Science Starts Here - I Can Be a Scientist | Week 1
Welcome to the exciting world of science!
Science Starts Here is the first unit in the I Can Be a Scientist curriculum series. Designed for children ages 4–12, this hands-on STEAM unit introduces young learners to the role of scientists and the skills they use every day to explore the world around them.
Throughout the week, students learn how scientists ask questions, make observations, develop hypotheses, conduct experiments, and draw conclusions using evidence. Children are encouraged to think critically, stay curious, and discover that science is everywhere.
The highlight of this unit is an exciting Dry Ice Lab, where students investigate states of matter, sublimation, gas pressure, and scientific inquiry through hands-on experimentation. Along the way, they record observations, make predictions, and analyze results just like real scientists.
In addition to science investigations, this packet includes differentiated literacy and math activities for multiple age levels, a Scientist Badge art project, sensory exploration, family learning activities, and extension resources designed to reinforce key concepts throughout the week.
