About Me

Hi, I’m Seleste — the heart and hands behind STEAM with Seleste.

I’ve always had a deep love for science. As a child, I dreamed of working in the STEM field. But I’m also a survivor of childhood trauma, and healing from that pain became my first and most important work. Though my path didn’t lead me to a laboratory or a research institute, it led me somewhere just as powerful — the classroom.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to children. I’ve worked in childcare and early education for many years, and over time, I realized that teaching is not just a career for me — it’s a calling. Along that journey, I discovered Conscious Discipline, and everything changed.

Through Conscious Discipline, I began to understand how trauma shapes development, behavior, and connection. I learned how to recognize my own triggers and approach children with compassion, not control. It also helped me heal, especially through the experience of parenting my daughter. Conscious Discipline gave me the tools I needed to break cycles — both in myself and in my classroom.

STEAM with Seleste grew from that healing. I wanted to create a space where kids could safely explore the world through science, technology, engineering, art, and math — not just to learn facts, but to discover who they are and what excites them. My long-term dream is to expand this work into spaces that specifically serve children impacted by trauma — including children in foster care — who need a safe place to play, learn, and imagine a life beyond their current circumstances.

In my classroom, safety and connection always come first. I use trauma-informed behavior strategies that help children feel secure, seen, and supported. When kids feel safe, their brains are more open to learning. And when they feel connected, they’re more curious, more creative, and more resilient.

This program is for the kids who need a place to belong, a space to explore, and a chance to shine. I’m honored to be part of their journey.

I’m deeply grateful to share life with my partner of 16 years and our amazing daughter. Together, they have taught me what safety, love, and connection truly feel like—experiences I never had before. Their presence has transformed my life and opened doors to new opportunities for me and our family, including the work I now pour into STEAM with Seleste.

Thank you for being here.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do. Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
