Mix, Measur, & Pour - I Can Be a Scientist | Week 4
What happens when scientists carefully measure, mix, and combine ingredients?
Mix, Measure & Pour is the fourth unit in the I Can Be a Scientist curriculum series. Throughout this week, students discover how scientists use measuring tools, follow procedures, and record observations to create accurate and repeatable results.
Children explore the concept of volume, learn how measuring cups, spoons, pipettes, and beakers are used, and discover why precise measurements are important in both science experiments and everyday life. Along the way, students practice scientific thinking by making predictions, observing changes, and following step-by-step procedures.
The featured Pudding Potions STEAM Challenge transforms the kitchen into a science lab as students measure ingredients, mix materials, observe physical changes, and create an edible experiment. Children experience firsthand how careful measurements affect results while practicing real laboratory skills.
In addition to science investigations, this packet includes differentiated literacy and math activities, a Beaker Puffy Paint art project, a hands-on pouring station sensory activity, family measurement challenges, logic puzzles, and extension activities designed to reinforce scientific thinking through play and experimentation.
